Research Analyst
Nielsen Audio’s 240+ markets report audience estimates that are used by broadcasters to aid in their selling of air-time to advertisers and advertising agencies. This position focuses primarily on the analysis of Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), Nielsen’s Survey Area policies, and business rules related to geography, race/ethnicity, commuting, population updates, and radio listening trends to update markets used for survey sampling. This role may qualify to be performed from a remote location.
A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $50,000 - $185,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.

Research Analyst

Responsibilities:
- Apply policy, rules, and thresholds to marketplace, including population shifts and audience estimates trends, to evaluate survey area changes including:
- Designing or updating geographic and high density Hispanic and/or Black sampling units within a market.
- Conducting annual reviews of Nielsen’s defined PPM “Geographic Zones”.
- Conduct analysis to identify qualifying new markets or how to redefine a current market.
- Evaluate changes to Nielsen Audio’s Total Survey Areas biennially.
- Support the production of Nielsen’s Television and Audio annual wall maps.
- Prepare written communications including comprehensive internal/external policy documentation, business letters, “one pagers” for web posting or e-mail distribution to clients, and external/internal presentations.
- Participate on cross-department teams to evolve and refine related policies considering business and client impact.
- Support client’s inquiries and provide customer focused service while maintaining the integrity of the service.
Requirement's:
- 4-year degree.
- At least five years professional level experience in demography, geography, audience measurement, market research, or relevant work.
- At least 2 years of experience interacting with and servicing professional and executive level customers. Experience with conflict management and negotiation.
- General experience with relational databases, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and/or Minitab. General experience with querying databases is required (SQL).
- Experience with GIS applications (Mapinfo) and business intelligence tools is preferred.
- Strong ability to write technical and business correspondence/reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations for both external and internal audiences.
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
