The mission of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (OVPR) is to foster the expansion of the scale, quality, and impact of scholarly endeavors at UT Austin. We are committed to building capacity, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and lowering the barriers and burden involved in scientific and creative inquiry through the development of an investigator-focused infrastructure that supports the needs of UT Austin's research enterprise.
The Research Core Facilities (RCF) office supports a network of advanced research service centers and instrumentation that enable scientific discovery and innovation.
This part-time student role offers hands-on experience in communications, graphic design, and event planning within a collaborative research environment.
Purpose
To provide support to the RCF portfolio by creating outreach materials, maintaining a shared events calendar, and assisting with coordination for professional development events and campus engagement activities. This role helps raise visibility of RCF initiatives, facilities, and services.
Responsibilities
Draft and design outreach materials for events, training programs, and announcements.
Create first-draft blurbs and content for RCF and CBRS websites, newsletters, and email communications.
Maintain a shared outreach and event calendar; research and monitor relevant campus events.
Assist with the logistics and setup of in-person and virtual events, including tabling sessions and workshops.
Format slides, signage, flyers, and other promotional assets.
Support photo documentation and brief write-ups of facility activities or events.
Help with event logistics such as room reservations, catering orders, materials prep, and event breakdown.
Other communications or administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools.
Interest in event promotion, marketing, or communications.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong, independent, and collaborative work ethic.
Current UT Austin student, enrolled/registered with fees paid for the current semester and in good academic standing.
Financial aid work-study recipient.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with UT Austin’s communications channels and event spaces.
Proficient in design and communication platforms such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and other visual content creation tools.
Salary Range
$15.00 Hourly

Work Shift
Must be available to work 10-15 hours per week.
Flexible work hours between Monday through Friday 8am-5pm, based on students' class schedule.
