Job Description
Eurofins Environment Testing Southwest- Tustin CA is searching for an Organic Extractions Department Manager to monitor and support the daily activities of the extractions group staff to ensure on-time delivery of sample extracts and data in adherence with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOP’s.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Evaluation and prioritization of the sample backlog to meet method due dates
- Communication and coordination with the analytical department and project management team to ensure samples are delivered on time and that any delays or problems are communicated in a timely manner.
- Final data review of preparation batches and procedures to ensure accuracy and quality
- Ensure that the department adheres to all SOP and QAQC program requirements
- Maintenance of department training records as is required by various Eurofins programs i.e. QAQC, EH&S, etc.
- Write, review, and evaluate standard operating procedures
- Schedule, hire, and train laboratory personnel to meet production goals
- Maintenance of all balance and volumetric calibration programs as required by the QAQC program
- Maintenance and repair of support equipment and instrumentation
- Coordination and inventory maintenance of consumables, solvents, standards, reagents and other supplies to ensure uninterrupted production within the department
- Identify process improvement opportunities, recommend solutions, and implement action plans
- Evaluate new technology and instrumentation to streamline department processes
- Represent the department in an informed and professional manner during internal and external audit events
- Perform technician duties as needed to support department production goals and on-time delivery of extracts.
- Perform general housekeeping within the laboratory to maintain an organized and safe working environment
- Conduct daily duties in an efficient and safe manner, remaining compliant with environmental health and safety programs
- Perform other laboratory duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience working in a production oriented environmental testing laboratory setting required
- 2+ years of prior management experience, required.
- BS or BA in chemistry or related field
- Familiarization and proficiency in EPA methods 3510, 3511, 3520,3550, 3546, 3540, 3541, 1664, 608, 8151 highly preferred.
- Effective time management and multitasking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
- Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English
Additional Information
Compensation range: $75,000 - $90,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
Position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm, and exempt from overtime pay.
