As part of Global Investment Control (GIC), the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for supporting program priorities of both large and small scale, involving initiatives that enhance scalability, and the evolution of technology platforms used in GIC Investment Operations. The senior analyst performs user research and business analysis on new product features or enhancements of varying size and complexity, identifies solutions, and proactively communicates program status to engaged stakeholders. The contributions have a direct impact on improving user experience, making operations more efficient, reducing operational risk and supporting the growth of the business. Key stakeholders include Investment Operations and Investment Group business partners, Trading, Legal & Compliance, the Enterprise Change Office and the Information Technology Group. The senior analyst plays a critical role collaborating across organizational boundaries to develop and implement investment process solutions.

  • You can define and conduct research; recommending solutions to complex business processes and products.
    • Defining and conducting complex research and analysis (e.g., gap analysis, impact analysis, cost benefit analysis, data analysis, risk, root cause analysis, system and process mapping) concerning complex business processes, products, procedures and goals.
    • Recommending solutions and options to stated problems to management to help make informed decisions, considering technical and business process impacts.
    • Identifying areas of improvement within assigned business areas. Drives processes to make changes. Introduces innovative recommendations, factoring in customer needs and external approaches.
    • Leading the effort to create well-defined business cases.
    • Engaging throughout the business unit to support new strategies and relationships; leverages feedback and business metrics to inform direction. 
  • You can gather, interpret and influence business requirements.
    • Collaborating with teams to interpret and clarify requirements and purposes or goals of various processes, offerings and practices.  Identifying and communicating solution options and recommendations for consideration.  Ensuring full understanding and documentation of issues and enhancements that need to be addressed.
    • Analyzing and prioritizing the value of a new idea, request or potential project, including defining the scope, objective and baseline requirements. Communicating and describing findings to ensure effective understanding and decision making.
    • Providing recommendations to senior management to assist in making informed decisions on business strategy, gaps or improvement opportunities.

    • Leading medium to large projects; managing the full scope of project tasks, project risks and implementation (i.e., change management) responsibilities.
    • Collaborating with large program teams, crafting messaging and ensuring understanding with appropriate level of detail.
    • Leading communication plans to ensure optimal project communication, including project status to teams and stakeholders.
    • Coordinating department communication, establishing agendas for standing meetings, facilitating project meetings.
    • Partnering with the business to ensure the department is sufficiently ready to execute new processes or leverage new technology.  May develop training materials.
  • You can lead project deliverable testing and validation.
    • Leads user acceptance testing; may identify testers, develop test scripts and conduct test execution. Coordinates and provides direction on how to document and execute test plans efficiently and effectively.
    • Ensures system enhancements accurately deliver the documented business requirements prior to implementation.  Conducts demonstrations to end users and solicit feedback.
  • You can provide team leadership.
    • Develops project-level or team-level health dashboards; documents and escalates risks and identifies solutions.
    • Provides information on business processes and system functionalities to the business and technology areas. Serve as a knowledge resource and role model.
    • Acts as a resource and mentor to business analysts within the group and other colleagues throughout the department.
    • Identifies industry best practices and introduce them to the department.
    • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
