General Notes

To provide store keeping and lab prep skills for the inorganic & general chemistry stockrooms of the Department of Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Prepare reagents and solutions for use in undergraduate teaching labs.

• Supervise student workers in the setup of teaching labs in preparation for lab classes.

• Supervise the issuance of supplies and equipment.

• Maintain and service lab equipment.

• Prepare specifications for setting up equipment in classroom laboratories.

• Train teaching assistants in proper equipment setup/operation, lab procedures, and safety standards.

• Coordinate disposal of lab waste.

• Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma and two years of experience. Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field. Two or more years experience working in a chemical stockroom or laboratory. Experience working in a teaching lab environment.

Salary Range

$45,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

• Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).

• May work around chemical fumes.

• May work around standard office conditions.

• May work around chemicals.

• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.

Work Shift

4/10 work schedule: Tues-Thur 11:30AM - 9:30PM & Fri 8AM - 6PM
