The Cleveland Plan defines CMSD’s approach to the reinvention of public education and holds our community accountable for the success of Cleveland’s schoolchildren. The Cleveland Plan is supported by Ohio House Bill 525, which provides much-needed flexibility and autonomy for the district and its schools. Our schools have autonomy over human and financial resources in exchange for accountability for

performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

Compensation: $ 63,240. - $ 88,536.

As part of the College and Readiness Team, the Program Manager, School Counseling requires an individual with superior leadership, analytical, execution, and change management skills. This position will serve as a key contributor to the success of CMSD’s school counselors, teachers, leaders, and scholars

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as the liaison between the district-wide School Counselors and the CMSD Department of College and Career Readiness.
  • Facilitates and coordinates district-wide support for school counselors, including training, professional development, coaching, and mentoring, which builds their capacity to support all students with college and career readiness.
  • Monitors systems to track students’ progress toward graduation, including, but not limited to, on-track-to-graduation data, transcript analysis, FAFSA completion, college application completion, etc.
  • Supports counselors with the input and consistent monitoring of accurate student data and student records and ensures student academic histories are accurate
  • Develop a support system for school counselors and visit schools regularly to ensure consistency in implementing the school counseling program
  • Plans and implements FAFSA and Financial Aid completion activities and supports families through the college application process.
  • Develops and implements four-year graduation plans for students and supports school counselors in ensuring individual meetings with each student to create and monitor four-year plans
  • Maintains knowledge of and leads district participation in area, regional, and state job fairs and college nights
  • Develop strong positive relationships with district partners, community groups, leaders, and stakeholders and facilitate two-way communications supporting the district’s academic plans
  • Collaborates with various departments to create an annual course catalog to provide students, families, and the community with a clear and concise summary of the coursework offered at each middle and high school
  • Works collaboratively with the school leaders, College Now Advisors, College, Career, Community, Coordinators, and Family
