Job Description

Project - the aim you'll have

You will be a part of an agile team that includes Polish and British developers and testers in order to deliver, rebuild and extend an existing IT ecosystem for a travel industry company. You will be engaged in adding new features, rebuilding existing solutions and proposing new architecture. This will require digital transformation initiatives, evolving existing platforms evolution, digital, web and mobile development and tech debt removal. Work will be divided between 4-5 teams that concentrating on each of the specific areas:

  • Developing new functionalities and maintaining existing ones
  • Performing code reviews
  • Participating in creating product architecture
  • Supporting the development team through exchanging knowledge and skills
  • Collaborating closely with testers (QAs), business analysts, product owners, and scrum masters

Position – how you’ll contribute 

  • As a teacher, you’ll support teams and their stakeholders in learning Agile theory and practices, as well as adopting an Agile mindset
  • As a mentor, you’ll support teams and their stakeholders in applying Agile theory and mindset to their work
  • As a coach, you’ll support teams and their stakeholders in continuous growth towards improvement and elimination of unnecessary activities
  • As a facilitator, you’ll ensure the productivity of team meetings

The daily responsibilities of the Scrum Master include: 

  • Leading and coaching Scrum teams and enabling them to self-organize to achieve their sprint goals
  • Facilitating all of the Scrum team ceremonies, cooperating with POs and BAs and working closely with the team to understand progress and clear any blockers
  • Representing the team at the Scrum of Scrums to escalate issues and cross-team dependencies 
  • Working with a Product Owner to ensure that the team backlog and plans are ready for future sprints
  • Ensuring that the team’s progress is transparent via reporting

Because we use SAFe as a planning support framework, you’ll also:

  • Take part in the preparation for the PI Planning phase
  • Be a contributor to the PI Planning event
  • Support business and technical teams
  • Be a true Agile Rebel and remember that tools are supposed to help us and we shouldn’t follow them blindly

In general, as a Servant Leader, you’ll: 

  • Understand where your team(s) are in their Agile journey and offer the right approach to support their growth
  • Identify process issues and difficulties within and around your teams and assist in solving them
  • Ensure that onboarding processes for new team members are carried out
  • Co-operate with other Agile professionals to identify improvement opportunities across teams and the organization, spot issues and work on resolving them 
  • Co-operate with other Agile coaches to develop standards for Agile processes within teams 
  • Co-operate with other Agile coaches when working on a multi-team project

Qualifications

Expectations – the experience you need 

  • Theoretical and practical understanding of Agile – and some frameworks used to implement it e.g., Scrum, Kanban
  • Experience in the Agile way of working  
  • Facilitation, teaching, coaching and mentoring skills 
  • Communication and problem-solving skills
  • Patience, empathy, humility
  • Ability to work in a team 
  • Open-minded attitude and readiness to embrace change 
  • Ability to self-organize
  • Ability to say no and keep workloads under control 

Additional skills – the edge you have 

  • Experience with SAFe
  • Knowledge and experience in Scaled Multi-Team Development 
  • Product development knowledge and experience
  • People management skills
  • Agile Certification – Scrum.org, Kanban University, SAFe, etc.
