About the role

GEICO is seeking a strategic, innovative, and passionate Senior Director to lead our Defense Operations. This critical role will oversee the core functions of Threat Intelligence, Insider Threat, Incident Response, ensuring the protection of our customers data and our company's assets and reputation. Your expertise and strategic vision will be critical in strengthening our cybersecurity posture and ensuring the safety and integrity of our systems and data.

Position Responsibilities:

As a Director, you will:

  • Lead and manage the Cybersecurity Defense Operations, driving innovation, collaboration, and excellence across the teams

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive defensive security strategy aligned with the company's business objectives and risk appetite

  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing team of cybersecurity professionals, fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth

  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and maintain a strong security culture across the organization

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory requirements to ensure the company's defensive security posture remains effective and compliant

  • Develop and manage budgets, resources, and performance metrics for the Defensive Security organization.

  • Communicate cybersecurity risks, trends, and initiatives to executive leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations

  • Identifying areas of improvement and driving initiatives to enhance our corporate defense operations

Qualifications:

  • Experience establishing a Cyber Defense Program in an enterprise corporation

  • Proven expertise in security operations, analytics, and incident management, especially in a large financial services organization

  • Experience in collaborating and providing updates to senior executives on cybersecurity requirements and current state

  • Strong understanding of the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors

  • Strong technical and hands-on experience with various security tools, platforms, and technologies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor teams

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior executives

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing multiple priorities

  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a strong commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in information security, with at least 10 years in a leadership role managing cybersecurity incident response for a large financial services organization

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field

Certifications

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or other relevant cybersecurity certifications are a plus.

May be expected to travel up to 10% of the time
