The Opportunity

The Technical Curriculum Director brings a unique combination of technical subject matter expertise, content development, strategic planning and management skills in developing and leading our curriculum direction efforts. Technical Curriculum Directors manage a team of Technical Curriculum Leads, Learning Designers and SMEs responsible for developing and maintaining learning products for levy and non-levy revenue streams in one or more domains. TCDs support a team to help launch new modular learning experiences that help to close the skill gaps of today and tomorrow within their domain(s) expertise. They do this through managing a team of TCLs, LDs, and SMEs to develop curriculum and by leveraging 3rd party content partnerships. They oversee the entire curriculum development lifecycle and coach these team members ensuring high-quality content, delivery, and learning methods are effectively utilized. They build strategic plans with their TCLs to make sure they have the coverage and freshness needed to fulfill customer demand in their domains. TCDs require to have expertise in technical subjects and learning design principles to create innovative and impactful curriculum that meets the needs of target audiences. They are accountable for the budget allocation of content development within the domain(s) they oversee.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Domain Strategy

  • Expansion within domain(s) and expansion to adjacent domains not already covered: Conducts horizon-scanning techniques to monitor the client landscape to ensure ongoing program market fit.

  • Collaborates with PMM and GTM teams to make sure we’re staying on the forefront of customers skill needs in their domain(s).

  • Defines content roadmap for the domains they oversee

  • TCDs work with their team to  complete user research/discovery to understand pain points of programs (i.e. what business problems we are solving) and determine principles for new program iterations to address root cause of problems and how to increase relevance, ROI, and personalization.  

  • Expansion through partnerships: Scans the market for relevant 3rd party content partnerships to support expansion of offering.

  • Thought Leadership: Stay informed on product space through ongoing research and participation in relevant events to ensure the product remains industry-aligned

People & Budget Leadership

  • Team Management: Leading and managing a team of Technical Curriculum designers, providing direction, guidance, support, and feedback to ensure their professional growth and development.

  • Resource Allocation: Effectively allocating resources, including personnel, budget, technology, contractor expansion ensuring domain squad success.

  • Mentoring and Development: Providing mentorship and guidance to team members, supporting their professional growth, and creating opportunities for continued learning and development.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that high-quality standards and best practices are maintained within the team and across all related activities.

  • Budget Management: Works with VP of TC and Finance to upon the necessary budget to develop the roadmap and then manages distributing allocation of content creation budget and resources within a domain(s) they oversee

Client and Cross-functional Stakeholder Management

  • Meets with customers to present and get feedback on the content roadmap and gather insights on the changing needs of businesses.

  • Leads and influences cross-functional teams to develop and deliver key programmatic resources, platforms, and procedures to ensure the product meets expected outcomes
