We are seeking a professional like you to identify, champion, implement and maintain the site’s process automation systems, specializing in the process control, automation, and instrumentation areas. This is a hands-on role providing an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your strong technical skills in instrumentation, PLCs, DCSs, VFDs, industrial communication protocols and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). Your main responsibility will be to deliver and maintain instrument and control systems that meet production’s requirements, perform as necessary to achieve functionality and safety obligations, and maximize system capability.
This position is part of the Instrumentation, Electrical, and Controls team within the Technical Engineering Services department. Located along the banks of the Mississippi River between Hannibal and Palmyra, our 1,600 acre site is home to some of the world’s finest crop protection products. Our site provides over 20 technical and formulated products that help farmers meet the growing needs for a safe, abundant, and affordable supply of food for today and tomorrow.

Providing guidance and support in the implementation and startup of the site’s process control systems and drives (Allen-Bradley PLCs and VFDs, Emerson DeltaV DCS, and HIMA Safety PLCs).

Programming and configuring PLCs, DCS and HMIs using function block diagrams, ladder logic and sequential function logic.

Providing troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis expertise to the site’s units on field instrumentation, control elements, and process control systems.

Tracking Total Cost of Ownership for the PLC based control systems and VFDs, including monitoring failures, assisting in initial hardware installations, maintenance contract tracking and communication, optimizing software version upgrades and addressing vendor liaison issues.

Supporting capital projects and site initiatives from the study phase through detail design, construction, and startup.

Education: Associates/Technical degree in an Engineering field (Automation, Controls, Electrical, Instrumentation, Robotics or similar) AND 5+ years of experience as stated below OR Bachelors degree Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Computer Science, Instrumentation or equivalent) AND strong internship experience; 2+ years of experience is preferred.

Chemical or similar industry experience with emphasis on field instrumentation, control elements, VFDs, and process control systems (PLC, DCS, SPLC)

Strong technical knowledge in process controls, field instrumentation, control valves, drives, networking and control systems.

Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
