Founded in 2022 Scout Veterinary Urgent Care is changing the way pets receive care and empowering the teams that provide it. We offer care without compromise- it's reliable, it’s quality and it’s designed for modern pet parents. Scout Veterinary Urgent Care currently operates three clinics in the Chicagoland area and plans to build an additional 37 clinics over the next five years.
The Director of Finance role will be the first in-house finance hire and responsible for building out core systems, overseeing FP&A, managing our third-party accountants, ensuring accounting and tax compliance, and supporting payroll. This role will be a key partner to the CEO and a supportive force for our clinical teams.

What You'll Do
- Own day-to-day financial operations: bookkeeping, payroll, AP/AR oversight, and reporting
- Build out financial systems, tools, and processes as we scale
- Develop financial models and dashboards to support growth and decision-making
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting for leadership, investors, lenders and the board of directors
- Ensure accounting compliance and support tax/filing requirements
- Serve as the primary liaison with our third-party bookkeeping and CPA teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally, especially with clinical operations, to ensure alignment and transparency
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years of experience in finance, accounting or FP&A
- Experience in multi-site business
- Collaborative and service-oriented mindset
- Strong understanding business accounting principles
- Experience with financial software. Willingness to learn and optimize current systems and while exploring opportunities to continually improve
- Self-starter who thrives in a builder environment
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
Compensation: $120k-$150k DOE
