Staff Consultant - Mission Architect/Network Architecture

 

Technical leadership position for a Systems Engineer with Network Architecture experience in the space and ground domains. Must be creative, flexible, and comfortable handling many diverse and sometimes open-ended assignments. High level understanding of network data management and infrastructures is required.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Provide Systems Engineering leadership of technical teams to define architectures for complex systems including networks, spacecraft, instruments, ground, and missions.
  • Provide engineering support across multiple and diverse new business pursuits by developing concepts to meet customer space mission needs with focuses on:
  • Network Automation: Automating the configuring, handling, testing, deploying, and operating of physical and virtual devices inside a network.
  • Network Administration and Operation: Tracking network resources, optimizing data flow and limiting outages.
  • Network Assurance: Information Assurance (IA) and Crypto management of network resources.
  • Objectively define, execute, and report on trade studies that provide data for decision making to our customers.
  • Leverage Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Develop metrics to evaluate concepts that represent mission utility for the customer.
  • Creatively apply our heritage and expertise to solve customer problems in novel and cost-effective ways.
  • Mentor other systems engineers in mission systems engineering and architecture development.
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
  • Lead technical proposal development.  
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 16 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required.
  • Experience in Optical communications and standards is preferred (5GNR, Open ROADM, OpenZR+, ITU 709, Data formatting for optical transport networks).
  • High Level understanding of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model.
  • MS in Physics/Engineering Systems or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Customer Relationships: Extensive knowledge of missions and customers
