Salary Range: $5,540.00 per month to $7,893.00 per month. PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $5,540.00 per month to $6,716.00 per month.

About the Position

The Student Resources Specialist position primarily focuses on providing comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate students, assisting with academic planning, graduation eligibility, course substitutions, transfer credit evaluations, and student success initiatives. The role involves working closely with students regarding academic concerns, probationary status, and ensuring compliance with university policies. Additionally, it includes managing the scholarship process, guiding students and advisors on course articulation, and coordinating with the Study Abroad office for credit transfer.
The position also requires active participation in university committees, professional development, and campus events like New Student Orientation. Other responsibilities include maintaining effective communication with the campus community, contributing to the improvement of advising processes, and training staff as necessary.
Responsibilities
Academic Advising
- Advise students (primarily undergraduate) on academic university policies and procedures, including major, university requirements/GE, alternate majors, course substitutions, petitions and referrals to other campus resources, if necessary.
- Identify undergraduate academic problems and develop individual student solutions, especially for those having academic difficulty or are on probation.
- Make determinations on applicability of military, test, and course transfer credit to degree requirements and ensure that approvals are properly recorded.
- Develop and share academic plans for assigned CBE students within established deadlines.
- Determine graduation eligibility and complete final major and/or minor checks, assessing academic documents, assisting students in appropriate appeal processes, and advising on required requirements via one-on-one meetings, phone, email, and message communications.
- Utilize technology platforms (i.e. Bay Advisor, uAchieve, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office/Google Suite programs) to develop student success reports, tracking, and proactive advising interventions.
- Report student system issues and recommend solutions where appropriate.
- Ensure all e-mails to the shared email account and automated form submissions are responded to in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner.
- Assist Student Support & Success Coordinator to facilitate registration processes each term and find ways to improve procedures.
