We provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.</p><p><strong>THE SCIENCE, TECHONOLOGY AND INNOVATION DIRECTORATE</strong></p><p>The Science, Technology and Innovation (<a href="http://www.oecd.org/sti/">STI</a>) Directorate, in line with the strategic objectives of the Secretary-General, helps OECD member countries and other key economies build an environment conducive to translating science, technology and knowledge into innovation in order to create economic and social value added.</p><p>The Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) Division of the STI is responsible for comparative analyses of the microeconomic drivers of economic growth, productivity, employment, business dynamism and innovation, as well as the ways in which these are affected by globalisation, the digital and green transformations, and structural change. The Division maintains a set of key databases and data infrastructures to carry out this work, including the Microdata Lab (containing detailed IP records), the STAN, ICIO, and TiVA databases, and leads several distributed microdata projects, including MultiProd, DynEmp, and AI diffuse. The Division also contributes – jointly with the Economics Department – to the activities of the Global Forum on Productivity (GFP), which involves research, the organization of conferences and the communication of productivity-related research within the GFP community.</p><p><strong>THE POSITION</strong></p><p>STI/PIE is looking for a Senior Economist to contribute to the work of the Committee on Industry, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and of the Working Party of Industry Analysis (WPIA). The selected person will be responsible for managing several projects under the aegis of the CIIE related to the Committee’s work on:</p><p>a) business dynamics, productivity and digital transformation, including work on advanced digital technology use by firms and its relation with economic outcomes, such as productivity:</p><p>b) Global Value Chains (GVCs) and globalisation, including at a granular level, and the role of industrial policies in shaping GVCs.</p><p>This will include overseeing the work of economists/analysts, statisticians, consultants and support staff. The selected person will work under the supervision of the Head of the Productivity Innovation and Entrepreneurship Division (PIE) within STI.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p><strong>Main Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Analysis and drafting </strong></p><ul><li>Lead the analytical work in the areas of business dynamics and digital transformation or GVCs.</li><li>Identify policy-relevant questions and their corresponding analytical needs, also through the design and coordination of distributed microdata projects run on confidential microdata across countries, or using and linking other sources of large administrative or commercial microdata.</li><li>Foster and participate in the extension and improvement of the OECD analytical and methodological work in the areas of business dynamics, productivity, innovation, and digital transformation and GVCs.</li><li>Draw lessons and identify critical issues and good practices in order to build knowledge on the use of indicators for policy purposes.</li><li>Keep abreast of and contribute to the most recent policy-relevant literature in the areas of business dynamics, productivity, innovation, and digital transformation and GVCs.</li><li>Coordinate the production of policy-relevant analytical working papers, policy papers, policy-oriented notes, or other publications in the relevant areas.</li><li>Lead drafting of project proposals and contribute to input requests by senior management in the relevant areas.</li><li>Work Programme and management Manage activities of the CIIE and the WPIA by:<ul><li>overseeing the preparation of documents and implementation of decisions taken at their meetings, its bureau, and informal groups;</li><li>identifying areas in which empirical work is necessary and lead works oriented to the formulation of policy recommendations;</li><li>overseeing internal and external communications,
