Job Description

To ensure proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel and to provide consistent, cost-effective maintenance programs that ensure the Hotels safe and efficient operation.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate and operate, in an economical, legal and safe manner, all Heating, Lighting, Power and Repair & Maintenance for the hotel.
  • Inspect physical plant and equipment, and shall supervise maintenance and preventative maintenance program of that area.
  • Coordinate with other departments all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policy and legal requirements.
  • Interview, hire, counsel, train, and discipline engineering associates, in coordination with the Resort Manager and the Director of Human Resources.
  • Directly supervises associates in operation and control of utilities to provide efficient operation of hotel services and comfort to guests.
  • Recommend to management possible projects for future capital budgets. Obtain bids, supervise and coordinate contractors in performance of project work.
  • Maintain own and hotel's special permits and licenses as required by local authorities.
  • Control schedules, staffing and payroll of Engineering associates.  Compile staff records, logs utilities and keep Engineering records.
  • Report to work as scheduled while following the Time and Attendance Policy.
  • Complete any other assignment or duties assigned as needed.
  • PM Program for Meeting Rooms, Guest Rooms, Heart of House, Offices.
  • Charge Catering/Banquets for electrical work, telephones and banners.
  • Conduct room inspections.
  • Attend meetings as required. (Rooms Meetings, Operations Meeting, Monthly Staff Meeting, weekly EC Meeting, daily Morning/Evening Stand Up, weekly GM Rap).

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum of five years experience in a management role within the engineering field.
  • Must be able to create and manipulate spreadsheets and word documents.
  • Knowledge and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Able to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have great communication skills.
  • BA/BS in relatable field preferred. Certification in HVAC, EPA, electrical, plumbing is preferred. CPO, CPR and OSHA certifications are required.
  • Knowledgeable in safety use for: power tools, general engineering tools and equipment, pool pumps and filtration systems.
  • Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, power, water and sewer distribution, blue prints, fire codes and fire protection.
  • Ability to provide and carry a cell phone at all times to ensure being able to respond to emergencies at the hotel. 
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.
  • Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed, according to Omni standards, including timekeeping, vendor contracts, and personnel action forms.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day 25 – 30 % of job function.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of weights up to 25 pounds and occasionally greater, for all hotel equipment and machinery 50 –70% of job function.
  • Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout day for repairs and maintenance of hotel property, equipment an machinery 50% of job function.
  • Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances.  Use of ladders and lifts required at all times – generally 75 – 80% of job function.
