Job Description
We are seeking a Principal of Technical Program Management and Engineering Operations to join our Distribution Software Engineering organization. Reporting to the VP of Distribution Software Engineering, this role will lead technical program management and organizational operations across our Distribution software portfolio, including ADMS, OMS, DERMS, and next-generation GridOS services.
This leader will be accountable for driving delivery excellence, scalable operating practices, and predictable execution across highly complex, mission-critical software platforms. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX, and Executive Leadership to align strategy, execution, and outcomes—ensuring delivery of customer value while supporting revenue growth and EBITDA objectives.
As a senior leader, you will own the end-to-end delivery of complex technical programs and initiatives, including planning, execution, risk and dependency management, stakeholder alignment, and issue resolution. You will also be responsible for the structure, processes, and performance of the Distribution Software Agile Release Trains (ARTs), ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery.
In close partnership with the VP of Distribution Engineering, you will define and drive the operating model for the organization, including operating rhythms, communication frameworks, planning cadences, and outcome tracking.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Delivery Leadership
- Lead alignment across domain initiatives through effective planning, dependency management, and proactive impediment removal
- Serve as the primary owner and escalation point for complex, cross-cutting technical programs
- Drive outcome-based delivery by refining guidance, processes, and forums that enable teams to unlock technical and operational blockers
- Monitor delivery progress, surface insights, recommend course corrections, and provide clear, frequent updates to stakeholders and executives
- Engage senior leadership using Lean operational practices to communicate progress, risks, and outcomes
Agile, SAFe & Release Excellence
- Own and evolve a scalable software development and release model that improves transparency and establishes a single source of truth for delivery commitments
- Enable and lead quarterly Big Room Planning (BRP) events, including logistics, pre-work, facilitation, and standard work adoption
- Ensure successful tracking and reporting of delivery, planning, and strategic metrics
- Define, document, and govern standard work aligned with compliance and audit requirements
- Champion continuous improvement through retrospectives, Kaizen practices, and a strong focus on automation and reduction of manual processes
- Coach and guide Scrum Leads, Product Owners, and Value Stream leaders in applying Agile and SAFe principles effectively
- Improve value flow across value streams and ensure realization of value committed by Product Management
Organizational & Operating Model Leadership
- Drive the operating cadence for the Distribution Engineering organization, including meetings, communications, OKRs, planning, and reporting
- Partner with engineering, product, and UX leadership to create achievable, integrated delivery plans
- Advocate for and lead organizational change to advance Agile maturity and execution excellence
- Identify, manage, and escalate risks and dependencies that could impact ART delivery and strategic objectives
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, from an accredited college or university
- 10+ years of experience delivering highly complex, technical software programs in a product-based software organization
