Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Senior Joint Aviation C2 Exercise Planner for the External Elements (EXELMS) section of MSTP to provide support to MEF/MEB-level exercise design, planning, and execution.
The mission of the MSTP is to: Train and Educate Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) and Marine Expeditionary Brigades (MEB) Command Elements to conduct operations across the range of military operations, within the context of a Joint, Combined, or Coalition environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and execute Joint Aviation C2 processes in support of MAGTF Staff Training Program (MSTP) led and supported Marine Expeditionary Force/Brigade (MEF/MEB) exercises conducted against a pacing threat in a multi-domain contested environment during Service, Combined, and JTF-HQ training.
- Produce products necessary to conduct the Joint Planning Process for Air and/or Air-Battle Planning Process and systems such as Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS) and other joint Aviation C2 processes and systems.
- Enter Air Tasking Orders and or Integrated Tasking Orders into TBMCS and, in coordination with MSTP Modeling & Simulation, ensure that TBMCS ATO/ITOs correctly interface with simulations in support of MSTP-supported events.
- Integrate Joint aviation C2 systems in the execution of comprehensive Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC)/Joint Air Operations Center (JAOC) functions during final exercises.
- Research operational concepts, plans and conducts analysis of aviation C2 processes and determines theater-specific capabilities for C2 of aviation.
- Engage the training audience up to the MEB/MEF level to capture training objectives and ensure their incorporation into the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC).
- Support extended work hours in support of 12 to 24-hour continuous operations during events.
Requirements
- Ability to integrate Joint aviation C2 systems in the execution of Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC)/Joint Air Operations Center (JAOC) functions supporting MSTP exercises
- Possess detailed and functional knowledge of the Air Operations planning process and C2 processes and joint doctrine related to air operations.
- Background in planning and executing Joint airpower employment; knowledge of CAOC, JAOC or AOC operations.
- Experience writing orders IAW CJCSM 3130.03A, Planning and Execution Formats and Guidance and NATO Order format.
- Completion of Intermediate and Senior Service School.
- Knowledge of, and operational experience, deploying and employing aviation units.
- Knowledge of and operational experience with military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the operational command level.
Desired Skills/Qualifications
- Direct participation in real world operations is desired.
- Recent Active-Duty experience (within 5 years) in an AOC leadership role.
- Senior-Level – Advanced Degree or equivalent w/ 15+ Years Direct Relevant Experience.
- Familiar with developing events to support a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL).
- Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook skills.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Travel
- 25-40%, primarily to Camp Lejeune, NC; Camp Pendleton, CA; and Okinawa
