About the role
As an Operations Analyst, Benefits Configuration, you will help with activities designed to improve the consistency, accuracy, and efficiency of benefits administration at Oscar. You will accomplish this by supporting incoming projects and work associated with plans and benefit design and perform activities to support benefit configuration.
By collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and gaining an understanding of Oscar's platform and configuration capabilities, you will help ensure that benefits are loaded accurately and efficiently, all while furthering the mission of Oscar: making healthcare more affordable for all.
You will report to the Senior Operations Manager, Benefit Configuration.
This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote
The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $60,000 - $78,750 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $54,000 - $70,875 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, and annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Build an understanding of plan design, plan build and benefit configuration workflows and utilize this knowledge to develop insights into opportunities for workflow improvements.
- Understand benefit policies and plan design requirements and identify and measure the impact of any changes on internal operations and/or benefit configuration.
- Load plan and cost share data into the core system accurately and in a timely manner.
- Become well-acquainted with internal tools and technical processes, in particular database querying and benefit configuration concepts.
- Utilize skill sets and expertise to support your team lead or manager by guiding decisions and implementation on an ongoing basis.
- Build SQL queries and translate technical analyses into easily digestible communications to a nontechnical audience
- Perform detailed oriented work with a high level of accuracy and adherence to all QA/QC protocols
- Develop and implement processes and necessary tooling, including process, QA and control documentation
- Identify and report on any data/data infrastructure gaps, deficiencies, or irregularities
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or 4 years commensurate experience
- Working knowledge of health plan benefit concepts (e.g., deductibles and other forms of cost sharing, etc.).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and/or comparable programs within the Google Docs Editors suite (e.g., Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides).
- 1+ years of experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets using excel or a similar database language to solve business problems
Bonus Points
- Working knowledge of medical coding concepts (e.g., CPT, HCPCs and ICD-10 coding)
- Proficiency in SQL

Pay Transparency:
Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
