Job Description

Summary: The Director of Education Leadership Programs is a full-time, benefits eligible position based in the McColl School of Business Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) and in cooperation with the Cato School of Education.  The position reports to the Executive Director of the Executive Leadership Institute. The Director of Education Leadership Programs is a key member of the Executive Leadership Institute team. Responsibilities include guiding and contributing to the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of programs focused on leadership in the education sector. The cornerstone program the Director is accountable for is the for-credit School Executive Leadership Academy (SELA). The Director is also accountable for not-for-credit programs delivered for education sector clients.

 

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Relationship Management – cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders in school districts and grantors being served. Includes being attentive to and acting on opportunities for grants from grantors.
  • Business Development – growth of leadership programs in the education sector through retention and renewal of existing programs and the proposal and sale of new programs.
  • Marketing and Recruitment – marketing the SELA program and populating SELA cohorts each year. Includes communications campaigns that leverage mechanisms like open houses, information nights, email, websites, social media, print collateral, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Program and Course Design – designing programs and courses that accomplish the specific learning outcomes required by and for each client. Specific accountability for keeping the five SELA courses up to date. Additionally, the designs apply adult learning principles that create best-in-class professional/leadership development experiences for program participants.
  • Program and Course Delivery – providing leadership to faculty and staff in the planning and execution of tasks leading up to and in the delivery of Education Leadership programs to produce measurable results in terms of leadership effectiveness. Specific accountability where assigned as Instructor of Record for SELA courses.
  • Program and Course Evaluation – delivering quality learning experiences as measured by accomplishing course and program learning outcomes/objectives and doing so with a high level of satisfaction expressed by program participants and by client organizations.
  • Pricing and Contracting – assist the Executive Director in developing pricing for proposals of new business and renewals of existing programs. Also assist the Executive Director with negotiating terms, conditions, and fees with clients.
  • Program Management – providing timely, objective feedback to program faculty, other instructors, and staff who assist in program design, development, and delivery.
  • Operations and Administrative – As needed, assist the Executive Director and other ELI team members with preparing and administering contractual agreements, invoices, collections, program materials, and room scheduling.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

From time to time the Director of Education Leadership Programs may be asked to:

  • Provide assistance with leadership programs that serve clients from other industry sectors (e.g., manufacturing, financial services, etc.).
  • Attend meetings for or event involving McColl School of Business and/or Cato School of Education faculty and staff.
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and university needs.

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge & Skills Preferred:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a school principal and a NC Principal Licensure.
  • Masters degree required, Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to deliver dynamic, relevant, and engaging professional presentations.
  • Familiarity with best practices in instructional design
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative and work proactively.
  • Willing and able to work with minima
