POSITION SPECIFICS
The Morgan Academic Center (MAC) strives to provide comprehensive learning services that help all student-athletes reach their potential while achieving academic and athletic excellence. We accomplish this mission by embracing and promoting the academic and athletic missions of the University, the Office of Undergraduate Education, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The Assistant Director/Academic Advisor position in the Morgan Academic Center (MAC) reports to the Director for Football Academic Support Services.
The responsibilities include the following:
- Coordinate the academic support and counseling services for assigned student-athletes in the sport of football which involves tracking and monitoring student-athlete academic progress and eligibility
- Communicate student-athlete academic progress to coaching staffs, athletic administration, and the MAC Director
- Teach one section of the student-athlete first-year seminar course
- Supervise and direct the daily/weekly work of two part-time Academic Support Assistants (ASA)
- Refer student-athletes to other appropriate University resources, as needed
- Meet with prospective student-athletes and families throughout the recruiting process
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director and Associate Director
- Evening and weekend hours will be required
This position will be filled at the Advanced Professional or Intermediate Professional level. A master's degree in counselor education, college student personnel, sports management, social work, education, higher education administration, or related discipline is preferred. Position must adherence to NCAA, Big Ten Conference rules, and Penn State University regulations affecting the sport and the University.
