Position Objective:
The Summer Adventure/Recreation Guide works with Adventure and Recreation staff to provide outstanding customer service and a welcoming environment while working aerial adventure courses, climbing wall, archery and any other supporting family recreation activities in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.
General Qualifications:
The Summer Adventure/Recreation Guide is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Set up, maintain, clean up, and operate aerial adventure courses, climbing wall, archery and Fieldhouse on a daily basis with the help of other Adventure/Recreation staff.
- Provide instruction to guests regarding safety and operation of adventure and recreation programs to ensure safety and smooth operation of courses.
- Ensure maintenance and inspection of all equipment to ensure safety of staff and guests.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications
Education/Certifications/Licenses:
- High school graduate.
- Some college experience preferred.
- Must be CPR/First Aid certified.
Work Experience:
- Prior experience with Adventure and Recreation activities in a professional teaching environment is preferred but not required.
- Prefer prior experience in rock climbing, challenge courses, knots, safety, and other related matters preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
- Ability to operate calmly and rationally in challenging and stressful situations.
- Must be punctual and responsible.
- Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
- Ability to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
- Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
- Must be flexible with an ability to adjust and problem solve in challenging situations.
- Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
Physical Demands:
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
