JOB SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Steward Supervisor is to assist with and adhere to casino/hotel specifications and standards in operating the dishwashing machine to wash designated restaurant, banquet, and kitchen wares, as well as clean and maintain kitchen lines and pantry areas.

 

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Assist the Executive Steward and F&B management team in the operations of the Restaurants
2. Ensure effective use of labor and manage productivity on an hourly basis
3. Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas and equipment
4. Work on a daily basis to improve stewarding efficiency, organization, and workflow
5. Assist the Executive Steward with the inventory of all glass, silver, and china
6. Assist in maintaining necessary inventories of kitchen cleaning products and equipment
7. Responsible for the completion of washing china, glassware, silverware, mopping and sweeping floors, and keeping the work area clean and organized
8. Responsible for the completion of the overall cleanliness of the floors as directed
9. Actively involved in the completion of all daily tasks and duties
10. Maintain all areas for a safe, clean environment based on the Health Department and internal standards
11. Issue maintenance work orders for needed repairs  
12. Make routine inspections of stations to ensure proper setup, ample supplies, and cleaning procedures in all areas are being followed
13. Assist with the training of new team members
14. Train food and beverage staff on chemical safety and proper washing procedures
15. Ensure proper maintenance of the dish machine
16. Communicate and enforce company expectations, including Code of Commitment, policies, procedures, department goals, and business strategy
17. Ensure service recovery activities
18. Train subordinates, providing each with the knowledge, development, and appropriate direction to perform their responsibilities
19. Provide continuous positive coaching for the development of employees and appropriate corrective action when necessary, in conjunction with the supervisor
20. Ensure timely and accurate performance appraisals and accurate work history entries
21. Exhibit sound decision-making with emphasis on motivating the team and maintaining high morale

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or GED is required
• Six months to one year of steward experience is required
• One year of supervisory experience is preferred
• Serve Safe Certified
• Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:
• Knowledge of dish machine maintenance and chemical safety
• Speed and accuracy are required to maintain maximum efficiency
• Knowledge of sanitation standards and procedures
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills, public relations, and employee motivational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene
• Team player
