About the role

Are you energized by the challenge of applying your skills in molecular and cellular biology to the validation and development of new targets for drug discovery?  If so, this Biology Senior Scientist role could be an exciting opportunity to consider. 

As a senior scientist within the Respiratory & Immunology Biology Unit, you will be responsible for conducting experiments to validate new targets and to progress targets through the drug development process within the hepatic, renal, and respiratory therapeutic areas.  

This role will provide you with the opportunity to learn new science and develop new technical and leadership capabilities.  The role responsibilities require:

  • Developing and executing biochemical and cell biology experiments and familiarity with collecting and analyzing data from common cellular and molecular methods
  • The experimental flexibility and range to develop new protocols and capabilities for detecting novel experimental endpoints.
  • Interpreting data from a wide variety of sources―including the scientific literature.
  • Communicating your experimental rationale, methods, and results to colleagues in a multidisciplinary scientific environment.
  • A highly organized individual with a strong motivation to learn, adapt, and grow.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills:

  • A BS/MS degree with 2+ years of experience in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular/cellular biology, immunology, or a related discipline
  • Experience working with molecular biology methods, including PCR and nucleic acid isolation, and routine mammalian cell isolation and culture methods.
  • Experience with the design and execution of biochemical and cell-based assays, including the application of enzyme activity and protein binding techniques, and the investigation of cellular signaling pathways using ELISA, immunoblotting, and gene expression analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience with genomic manipulation techniques, such as siRNA/shRNA, CRISPR, and lentiviruses
  • Experience with immunofluorescence and/or high-content imaging
  • Experience with the isolation and handling of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
