Position Summary

Position is responsible for the Departments purchases and contracts. Negotiates purchases and contracts and acts as a liaison with vendors.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Consults with department personnel on orders/purchases to be placed and meet their needs in providing requested information or resolving problems.
  • Receives quotations and secures bids.
  • Maintains established departmental and University policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Recommends purchasing objectives to Business Manager.
  • Maintains reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Oversees inventory and its control.
  • Establishes and approves sources of materials and supplies.
  • Acts as resource to department personnel in matters such as purchasing procedures, product detail, contracts, legal matters.
  • Assists in developing departmental budgets.
  • Assists in review and approval of purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Collaborates with Accounting Assistant regarding various types of purchase orders and payment of invoices.
