Head of Generative AI Risk and Control – Citi Wealth

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Risk and Control function for Generative AI (Gen AI) initiatives within our Global Wealth Management division. This role is pivotal in driving forward Gen AI initiatives while ensuring they are implemented within a robust risk and control framework. The ideal candidate will partner with business, technology, compliance, and risk teams to establish governance, mitigate risks, and enable the safe and effective adoption of Gen AI solutions that enhance client engagement, operational efficiency, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk and Governance Leadership:

• Design and implement a comprehensive risk and control framework for Generative AI use cases across global wealth management.

• Establish policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.

• Lead risk assessments, identify potential vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigation strategies for Gen AI initiatives.

Partnership and Collaboration:

• Work closely with stakeholders, including product, technology, compliance, legal, and operations teams, to align Gen AI initiatives with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

• Act as the primary liaison between risk and control functions and Gen AI teams to ensure seamless integration of risk management practices.

• Partner with external regulators and industry bodies to stay ahead of emerging risks and standards for Gen AI applications in financial services.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

• Develop and maintain dashboards and metrics to monitor the performance and risk exposure of Gen AI solutions.

• Provide regular updates to senior leadership, audit committees, and board members on the risk profile of Gen AI initiatives.

• Lead root cause analysis and develop remediation plans for any identified issues or breaches.

Training and Awareness:

• Build an organizational culture of risk awareness by developing training programs focused on the ethical and secure use of Generative AI.

• Educate teams on potential risks associated with Gen AI, including data privacy, model bias, and unintended consequences.

Innovation and Adaptation:

• Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and best practices in Gen AI risk management.

• Collaborate with technology and innovation teams to ensure new AI tools and platforms are designed with risk considerations in mind.

Compliance and Regulatory Alignment:

• Ensure all Gen AI initiatives comply with local, regional, and global regulatory requirements, including data privacy laws and AI ethics standards.

• Proactively identify potential regulatory risks and propose strategies to mitigate them.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related fields; advanced degree preferred.

• 10+ years of experience in risk management, governance, or compliance roles within financial services, preferably with exposure to AI/technology risk.

• Strong understanding of Generative AI, machine learning, and data privacy principles.

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.

• Experience with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, or AI-specific guidelines in financial services.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk topics to diverse audiences.
