The Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) Airplane Systems organization is seeking a high performing Airplane Systems Safety and Airworthiness (SAW) Chief Engineer Deputy Manager (Level K). This role will be based in Everett, Washington location.

Position Overview:
This manager will work across Safety and Airworthiness disciplines and within Airplane System groups of Unit Members and Applicant team members performing engineering, technical, and regulatory tasks. The position includes responsibility for facilitating/resolving certification or process issues, implementing policies and procedures, setting operational goals for the team. This role includes a significant level of mentoring, developing and facilitating across disciplines and functional groups.

Candidates applying for this position should be comfortable providing technical and project management of both Boeing employees and suppliers, as well as leading process improvement activities and utilizing methods for managing team workload and resources. The ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports is a key attribute to being successful in this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assure Safety at delivery by compliance to the rules and conformity to type design by process

  • Developing/Managing Engineering Unit Member Resources with the Functional Skill Teams

  • Facilitate/Resolve Certification or Process Issues: Accurate Major/Minor Determinations and Efficient Certification Processes 

  • Support Safety of the Fleet by review of specific events: Support Functional Safety Review Boards, Disclosures/Notifications

  • Coordination with Aviation Security regarding issues that arise

  • Provides input for technical and project oversight of suppliers.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of approaches to compliance with regulatory requirements and certification processes.

  • Leads and fosters process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains a culture of seeking to understand, courage to speak up, active listening and servant leadership to manage, develop and motivate employees.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering discipline

  • 3+ years of experience with managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.

  • Solid technical background with the ability to guide and mentor the team.
