About the role

Koniag Information Technology Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a highly experienced and mission-focused Technical Director to lead technical architecture, solution engineering, and strategic capability development in support of U.S. Government missions.

This role serves as a senior technical authority responsible for shaping and guiding complex technical solutions that align operational mission requirements, cybersecurity and compliance expectations, and real-world execution realities. The ideal candidate is an accomplished technical leader who thrives in high-visibility environments, can operate effectively with both government and corporate stakeholders, and possesses the ability to translate mission challenges into practical, scalable, and defensible technical solutions. This individual will collaborate across engineering, cybersecurity, operations, program management, business development, and customer leadership teams to drive innovation, technical excellence, and mission success. This role may require an active Top Secret / SCI clearance and the ability to operate in classified and sensitive mission environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead technical architecture and solution design for major programs, strategic initiatives, and customer mission environments.
• Develop integrated technical solutions that align mission objectives, operational realities, cybersecurity requirements, and delivery constraints.
• Guide engineering standards, technical reviews, architecture governance, and technical tradeoff decisions across programs and solution teams.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor to government and corporate leadership on architecture strategy, mission integration, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with government customers, program managers, engineers, architects, cybersecurity professionals, and corporate leadership to develop achievable and operationally relevant solutions.
• Support proposal development, technical volume creation, solution shaping, customer briefings, and capture activities.
• Drive innovation initiatives and help identify differentiators that strengthen mission delivery and market competitiveness.
• Ensure technical solutions align with security, compliance, RMF, Zero Trust, operational, and enterprise architecture requirements.
• Translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans and communicate effectively with both executive leadership and technical practitioners.
• Mentor senior technical staff and contribute to the development of technical leadership pipelines across the organization.
• Promote a culture of accountability, operational excellence, collaboration, and mission-first problem solving.
Required Qualifications:
• Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline. (Master’s degree preferred.)
• Typically 15+ years of relevant technical leadership experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or Federal Government missions.
• Demonstrated experience leading major technical efforts, enterprise architectures, solution engineering initiatives, or technical delivery teams.
• Proven ability to collaborate across government and corporate organizations to develop and implement mission-focused technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure modernization, and mission operations.
• Experience guiding technical tradeoffs between mission performance, compliance requirements, schedule, risk, and operational practicality.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, engineers, operators, acquisition professionals, and mission stakeholders.
