JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics in Hershey, PA is seeking a qualified, motivated Research Assistant in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology division to join a talented research team focusing on developmental therapeutic studies to identify and validate potential drugs for treatment of hematologic malignancies. Incumbent will develop and maintain patient derived xenograft models of disease to explore therapeutic interventions.  Candidate will be expected to work on the above independently and/or with senior investigators.  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and ambitious to learn. The qualified candidate needs to be detail oriented and follow SOPs and experimental plans.

Job duties to include:

  • Collecting, documenting, and distributing brain samples to support ongoing research.

  • Locating and retrieving samples as requested by investigators.

  • Ensuring compliance with all IRB protocols and laboratory standards.

  • Following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and providing updates or revisions as needed.

  • Summarizing and maintaining accurate related clinical data.

  • Supporting research continuity by ensuring timely sample acquisition and documentation.

Preferred Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) or Master’s Degree in a related science field.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Effective communication and recordkeeping skills.
