Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Sr Associate Athletics Director / CFO, UNLV Intercollegiate Athletics [R0142759]

ROLE of the POSITION

As a direct report to and under the general guidance of the Director of Athletics, this position will direct and oversee the fiscal and business operations of the UNLV Athletic Department and the Thomas and Mack Center… Athletics budget - $55 million and TMC budget $24 million.  The position will be expected to provide leadership in the business office, work independently, and be responsible for balancing the athletic department and Thomas & Mack annual budgets. 

This position will ensure accountability and compliance with all Athletics/TMC fiscal and budget matters relative to NSHE Policy. While working collaboratively with the campus CFO office staff.

This position is responsible for strategic financial planning; the creation and implementation of capital and/or operating budgets;

development and management of financial control systems and preparation of financial reports for Board of Regents meetings.  Knowledge of all applicable financial reporting rules and protocols is expected.

This position will serve on both Athletics Executive, Budget Oversight Team and Senior Staff Teams.  

This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment.  In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Minimum five (5) years of comparable experience in the Athletic or related field.   Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree and previous experience in athletics are strongly preferred.
