About the role

As an experienced and resourceful creative talent, the Performance Coatings Group (PCG) Digital Designer plays a key role within the PCG Creative Services team—an internal agency that supports all industrial divisions and shared services functions. This strategic, highly collaborative role works closely with the Creative Services Manager and partners specializing in copywriting, design, project management, social media, marketing automation, presentations, and customer experience to bring marketing concepts to life.

The Digital Designer is responsible for creating visually impactful, thought‑provoking, and on‑brand marketing collateral across digital and print channels for both internal and external audiences.

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113.

Below are the six core responsibility areas, each with associated tasks mapped to the role’s digital‑first focus:

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Creative Partnership

  • Collaborate with Creative Services teammates and internal partners—including marketing communications, sales, product marketing, segment leaders, and R&D—to develop strategic, forward-thinking campaigns and deliverables.
  • Interpret creative briefs, ask clarifying questions, and ensure alignment on marketing objectives, audience needs, and desired outcomes.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, client discussions, and concept reviews to elevate ideas and strengthen creative output.

2. Digital Design & Concept Development

  • Lead digital design direction for key division and segment initiatives, applying an understanding of target markets, brand positioning, and value propositions.
  • Design high-quality digital assets including social media graphics, email layouts, landing page visuals, web banners, email graphics and customer experience touchpoints.
  • Translate marketing strategies into compelling visual concepts that support engagement and brand consistency.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of digital samples, good use of typography, grid-based design, white space, responsive design, branding/logo design and color theory

3. Multi-Channel Visual Execution (Digital + Print)

  • Seamlessly move between templated production work and original creative development across digital and print assignments.
  • Successfully convert working files and assets from files such as brochures, sell sheets, one-pagers, trade show graphics, internal communications, and brand collateral to digital platforms.
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to brand, accessibility (ADA), and quality standards.

4. Brand Stewardship & Visual Identity

  • Apply and evolve brand guidelines, design systems, and visual identity standards across all work.
  • Demonstrate strong conceptual and aesthetic design skills to keep brand expression modern, cohesive, and competitive.
  • Push creative boundaries responsibly while maintaining brand integrity and alignment with business objectives.

5. Presentation, Communication & Iteration

  • Present design rationale clearly, articulating the “why” behind creative decisions to internal clients and stakeholders.
  • Receive and interpret feedback effectively, refining concepts with professionalism and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Add unique value through thoughtful iteration, creative exploration, and continuous improvement.

6. Quality Assurance & Production Excellence

  • Prepare accurate, production-ready digital files that meet technical, brand, and accessibility requirements.
  • Manage time and project priorities to meet deadlines while maintaining craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Ensure project execution aligns with best practices for file structure, efficiency, and cross-team collaboration.
