Job Description
AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking an experienced AVP, Project Director to support water, wastewater, and water resources projects in the New England area. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career serving as a client-facing project manager on regional and municipal wastewater collection and treatment projects, water treatment and distribution projects, and water resources projects (stormwater, water quality, dams). This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to an established and successful business in New England working on a diverse range of technically challenging projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead multi-discipline and complex water, wastewater, and water resources design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases, including alternative delivery projects.
- Manage a portfolio of clients with multiple projects.
- Develop and mentor mid-level and junior staff.
- Have decision-making authority and direct others in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.
- Deliver revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business.
- Lead business development activities, including pursuing new clients and projects and serving as leader of proposal efforts.
- Actively participate in professional organizations like NEWEA and NEWWA through presentations at conferences and volunteering.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related degree, with 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment, pumping and collection systems; water treatment and distribution systems; and water resources projects such as stormwater and dams.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Proven and demonstrated knowledge of water, wastewater and water resources and client/consultant relations experience.
- Position requires travel within the New England area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15 years of related experience in wastewater consulting and engineering management.
- Registered Professional Engineer licensed in one of the New England states and capable of obtaining a license in Massachusetts and Connecticut within 9 months of employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water, wastewater and water resources and client/consultant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Participation in water community activities including New England Water Environment Association and New England Water Works Association
- Proven ability to lead business development activities.
- Proven leader with an interest in developing and mentoring team members and demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $195,000.
