What You’ll Do:
As Business Operations Manager, you’ll dive head-first into some of the most complex and mission-critical initiatives at Hazel. This role joins a centralized team of strategic, analytical, and collaborative leaders and reports to the Vice President of Business Operations. This role offers the opportunity to be both an entrepreneurial leader independently driving results and an internal consultant partnering with other functional leaders with empathy and curiosity.
What to expect in your first 3 months:
- You’ll accelerate your ability to effectively problem solve in a rapidly growing, highly complex business just as much as you hone your capacity to mobilize the organization to capitalize on opportunities you’ve identified. Example initiatives include:
- Commercial growth strategy: Designing our playbook for contracting with health plans, fine-tuning our pipeline, and innovating on our value prop
- Impact: Liaising with clinical leaders, crafting our academic research agenda, exploring clinical and academic outcome data
- Adjacency development: Sharpening our perspective on non-core expansion opportunities, planning and executing on pilots, modeling the financial impact of future decisions
- You’ll roll up your sleeves to do the analytical work you did in earlier stages of your career, while also zooming out to do the strategic work done by your prior boss’s boss’s boss.

- You’ll develop relationships with teammates at all levels and functions – executives, engineers, clinicians, school support staff, and so on.
- You’ll feel excited by the opportunity (and expectation) to independently own problems and drive solutions in an ambiguous environment, while simultaneously leveraging a robust support structure of peers and mentors to build on your existing expertise.
What Excites Us:
- 4-6 years of management consulting, strategy, and operations, chief of staff, or comparable experience. Your breadth of experiences lets you move fluidly and confidently from the VC board room to the school counselor's office, from a multi-year financial model for an M&A target to a draft of Hazel's community impact "theory of change."
- You are laser-focused on driving impact. You are highly motivated to get to the heart of the problem and act boldly, urgently, and persuasively to address it. You’re results-oriented and never lose sight of the end goal, knowing that Hazel’s success can help blaze a trail for other equity-driven organizations.
- You are someone who operates with an owner’s mindset. You’re proactive, constantly challenging the status quo – all while demonstrating both humility and respect in your interactions. You take full responsibility for your work and are a role model for accountability in the organization.
- You are highly analytical. You relish the opportunity to turn mess and ambiguity into structure, clarity, and insight. You’re grounded in facts and are relentless about testing hypotheses to deepen your
