Senior Product Safety and Compliance Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is critical in the Product Safety and Compliance team within Peloton's Quality & Safety organization. The Senior Product Safety and Compliance Engineer will report to the Senior Manager of Product Compliance and will partner with cross-functional teams in executing Peloton's Product Safety and Compliance policies. The right candidate for this role will have demonstrated experience in successfully driving planning, identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and executing improvements in a positive and constructive manner. This role will require strong organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to translate business requirements into workflows.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
• Organize and manage analyses and follow-up of potential safety incidents/escalations in Safety Database
• Work with cross-functional teams to create and maintain a sustainable process for MSA/Member facing teams on potential diagnoses and communications related to potential safety issues.
• Partner with cross-functional teams with creating and sustaining a triage and response process for Exec escalation for potential safety
• Partner with cross functional teams on any emerging potential robustness issues and assist with continuous improvement projects that impact product robustness and safety
• Assist cross-functional teams with Product Construction safety reviews
• Partner with product development teams on new product development and running changes throughout the development lifecycle to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and identify product robustness opportunities, attend program reviews as needed; review and escalate issues as needed
• Partner with cross-functional teams with creating/updating safety and compliance related design documents and product communications
• Perform research and provide insight on design constraints for all core products and accessories, including performance, materials, packaging, and mechanical/electrical safety and compliance requirements
• Maintain technical product documents, perform routine audits, update or modify as required
• Perform necessary risk analysis at various stages of design to provide feedback to design teams. Assist with debugging and implementing compliant solutions.
• Develop formal certification and pre-compliance test plans
• Act as a technical resource (remote and on-site) for products undergoing compliance certification. This includes leading projects through certification at third party test houses (TUV, Intertek etc.)
• Work with suppliers to implement safety and compliance SOPs and ensure proper documentation is maintained and is accessible by Peloton
• Perform research to understand newest regulations and communicate impact to appropriate
internal teams
•Create SOPs to augment current development process to ensure safety and compliance
considerations
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
• 5+ years of experience in a Product Safety and Compliance role
• Must have Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree
• Must have previous global product certification experience
• Experience working in fitness, consumer electronics, or other related fields
• Experience working with third party test houses (TUV, Intertek etc.)
• Familiar with ASTM, EN, ISO Mechanical Safety standards
• Familiar with chemical compliance regulations and requirements
• Familiar with UL, CSA, EN Electrical Safety Standards
• Previous experience in product design, a plus
• Previous experience with Wifi certification and EMC, a plus
ase Salary: $138,800.00 to $180,400.00
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including individual performance, business objectives, and if the location for the job changes.
