Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to patients under direction of the RN and according to the Aide Plan of Care.
  • Provide necessary skills to assist the patient with safe transfers and ambulation per agency policy.
  • Provide necessary skill to appropriately report changes and document pertinent information and care rendered to patients to ensure continuity of care.
  • Practice accepted infection control principles. Provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  • Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and other employees.
  • Provide an environment which promotes respect for patients, privacy and property.
  • Provide skills necessary to assist the patient with proper nutrition and adequate fluid intake.
  • Contribute to the management and efficient operation of the agency and demonstrate effective time management skills.
  • Provide skills necessary to perform treatments and procedures according to agency policy.
  • Promote the agency philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.

Position Summary Expanded:

Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, (“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites. 

Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 
  • Current certification as a Certified Home Health Aide.
  • One year Home Health or Hospice Aide experience preferred.
  • Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions (Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR software).
  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
  • Able to work in a stressful environment.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Home health and/or hospice experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current auto insurance verification 
  • CPR
  • Current certification as CNA or HHA

Infection Control

Applies hand-washing principles during daily work; demonstrates understanding of isolation precautions; recognizes signs and symptoms of infection and complies with the employee health program; demonstrates understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste; maintains personal hygiene; complies with OSHA standards in the workplace; and demonstrates understanding of cross-contamination.

Information Management

Enters or records data timely and accurately; protects confidentiality of patient information; protects data against loss or destruction; reports suspected violation of security/confidentiality issues.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
