Join our dynamic team as a Sr. Technical Fellow within the Secure Mission Solutions (SMS) portfolio. This individual will lead strategic roadmap development and work closely with cross-functional leaders to drive innovation, build team cohesion and understand how to influence teams to make value added changes and develop a positive culture of continuous improvement. With a strong business acumen to effectively communicate and influence executive leadership, this prestigious role offers the opportunity to showcase your technical proficiency and supports the entire portfolio which includes mission processing, cross domain solutions, cryptographic networks/radios/link/space, and system integrity/cybersecurity.
The Sr Technical Fellow will own the establishment and execution of medium-term to long-term strategic roadmaps, plans, objectives, vision statements that align technology, customer needs and create the opportunities for our future business. This person must demonstrate a profound technical proficiency along with exceptional communication and presentation skills, as they play a pivotal role in shaping and influencing the business strategy which requires both depth and breadth in key technologies.
As a key engineering member, in conjunction with the General Manager and Business Development, the Sr Technical Fellow will develop the strategies required to enable business pursuits and capture growth via strategic roadmaps. This visionary role entails aligning with customer needs and shaping/influencing future requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Secretary Defense (OSD), National Security Agency (NSA), Anti-Tamper Executive Agent (ATEA) as well as other customers.
Another key aspect of this role involves providing enterprise mentorship to engineering disciplines, where other Technical Directors and Chief Engineers will seek council and guidance from the SMS Technical Fellow. This will enable the sharing of knowledge, drive quality and create new solutions. The Sr Technical Fellow will be the primary advocate for expansive technology, fused solutions and will influence the larger business with Non-Advocate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Customer Technical alignment.
This accomplished Technical Fellow will actively engage in other RTX business units and will be recognized for their technical expertise internally and externally to Collins. What You Will Do
- Work closely with Business Development on market trends and define the technology needs required to align the portfolio.
- Define the strategic steps of combined roadmap development and alignment to customer needs.
- Lead the establishment of objectives for execution of mapping and modeling of key engineering business process flows to optimize efficiency and meet program / customer needs.
- Partner with divisional senior executive leadership, key stakeholders, process owners, and subject matter experts to identify key customer strategic initiatives
- Lead in the definition and execution of engineering policies and procedures that bring value to programs and insight to leadership.
- Mentor programs leaders, customer desires, wants and needs.
- Identify and structure improvement opportunities and projects. Advise on and help drive the business operations agenda.
- Lead cross discipline teams. Engage across disciplines to bring focus to strategic projects and add value and velocity to engineering.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across departments and business units.
- Recommend, establish, and execute strategic projects. Implement process improvements, new processes and systems in support of engineering continuous improvement. Direct system enhancements in alignment with engineering strategy.
