About the Role

The Director, IT Finance holds a critical role in the financial management and strategic planning of Magna IT (MIT). This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of financial activities, as directed by Magna IT VP Finance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic insights to ensure the overall financial health and stability of MIT and its impact on the entire organization.
 

The successful candidate will work closely with the CDIO and Magna IT Leadership team and establish strategic alliances with key finance, business, and IT leaders across the entire organization to support continued success. 
 

Your Responsibilities

 

Financial Planning and Analysis:
•    Lead MIT Business Planning and Forecast process; full cycle (service/project pricing, strategic planning, detail operational plan and forecasting)
•    Proper financial analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing recommendations to improve financial performance and profitability.
•    Monitor and analyze financial metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and financial trends.
•    Ensure proper pricing of services/project hours 

 

Financial Reporting and Control:
•    Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and presentations for various stakeholders; attesting the financials properly reflect the business performance
•    Ensure compliance with accounting principles, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
•    Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.

 

Strategic Financial Leadership:
•    Provide strategic insights and financial expertise to support key decision-making processes.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate business proposals, investments, and potential acquisitions.

 

Cash Flow Management:
•    Manage cash flow, optimize working capital, and ensure adequate liquidity.

 

Team Leadership and Development:
•    Lead and develop a global team of financial professionals, providing guidance and support.
•    Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
•    Identify talent gaps and develop succession plans to ensure the long-term success of the team.

 

Technology
•    Utilize the latest technologies to improve financial operations, optimize processes, and support the growth of the business by providing data to drive business decisions - reducing costs, and enhancing overall financial performance.
 

Who we are looking for

•    Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
•    Strong knowledge of financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and internal controls.
•    Extensive understanding of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and financial best practices; technical knowledge of US GAAP, consolidation concepts, cost accounting, transfer pricing, etc.
•    Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable insights for business improvement.
•    Strong systems and technology skills (Excel, Power Point, Data Warehouse, OneStream, SAP)
•    Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior executives and board members.
 

Your preferred qualifications

•    CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation is highly desirable.
•    Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within a manufacturing or automotive industry.
