JOB SUMMARY:
The Renewable Project Manager is responsible for managing Behind the Meter (BTM) renewable programs engagement and implementation for Georgia Power, including providing initial customer and stakeholder support; performing solar savings analyses; facilitation of contracting and interconnection of residential customer generation projects; ensuring proper billing set-up; and providing continued support for thousands of BTM customer generators.
The role is responsible for direct customer and solar stakeholder interaction, commercial, industrial, and residential customer education and economic analysis, leadership and support of BTM governance (interconnection agreements, tariffs, internal policies), and the development and maintenance of processes and tools to support effective program management.
The Project Manager will also coordinate closely with other internal partners to ensure consistency and continuity in BTM program implementation and processes across all customer classes. This position is expected to maintain high customer and stakeholder satisfaction and build internal and external relationships through effective communication and demonstrate expert knowledge of BTM solar program options and processes.
This position will also be expected to maintain an active knowledge of industry trends and serve as an advocate for the Company’s position on BTM issues to influential audiences, industry groups, regulators, internal partners, and other stakeholder groups.
The Project Manager will be responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements and program filing timelines. Additionally, this role will serve in an advisory capacity to program development peers, ensuring that customer interests and needs are reflected in program designs as well as identifying barriers and/or opportunities related to implementation feasibility.
The incumbent operates in a hybrid work setting, spending four days per week in the office M-TH (Corporate Headquarters at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA) and one day working from home on Friday. This arrangement is subject to change based on future corporate policy updates.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree. Degrees in a related field such as business, finance or engineering are desired
- Prior experience in one or more of the following areas required: economic analysis, financial analysis, power delivery, generation, utility rates and pricing, sales & marketing, or customer service
- Two or more years of experience using data analysis tools, specifically Microsoft Excel, is required
- Experience in the areas of project management, direct customer interaction, electrical wiring or engineering is desired
- Experience in electric utility distribution, transmission or generation is desired
- Experience with Southern Company customer service and billing tools and applications is desired
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven or demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills to ensure high customer satisfaction
- Highly motivated and flexible with a strong attention to detail
- Work independently and in an organized manner without direct supervision
- Knowledge of customer service, metering, project management, pricing and rates, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of power delivery systems, including distribution and metering operations practices, policies and procedures is preferred
- Proven track record of demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills around complex issues
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently and leading cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing priorities
- Experience in effectively interacting with both external and internal stakeholders
- Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to quickly comprehend technical information and data, identify key issues, and develop solutions
- Working knowledge of CSS and associated internal customer billing/reporting tools (INTERNAL ONLY)
- Knowledge of utility rates and economic evaluations, and various company information tools (DistView, BillGen, etc.) is desired (INTERNAL ONLY)
