About the role

Our team oversees all the scheduling of news, sports & entertainment programs for the Univision, UniMás and Galavision networks, ensuring we continue to secure our position as the #1 Networks serving Hispanics in the country. We maximize ratings across our portfolio of networks and work with our content partners in joint research, production, programming, and innovate on content.

This position reports to the VP of Programming Strategy & Scheduling.  

ABOUT YOU:

You are a highly experienced and motivated Programming executive with effective communication, analytical and interpersonal skills with the capacity to relate to multi-layer stakeholders. You have strong storytelling abilities, and the aptness to deliver a Programming strategy that will drive ratings growth.

YOUR DAY-DAY:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the long-term and short-term programming content strategy for the networks, while communicating the schedule with clearly identified promotion priorities and working around the clock with the respective teams to maximize ratings and have a well-rounded portfolio strategy.
  • Curate all acquisitions and productions to execute the yearly rollout of the network.
  • Main liaison between production companies, daily producers, and internal production teams.
  • Work closely with the Entertainment team in the identification and implementation of global formats on our linear networks.
  • Collaborate with Televisa Mexico to ensure programming synergy by sharing insights and best practices to increase ratings.
  • Provide direction to the Acquisitions team in what content is needed for the content strategy of the networks.
  • Screen content from our studios in Mexico as well as global potential acquisitions to define scheduling placement based on content flow, industry trends, ratings learnings from track records (if available) and the environment with our linear and streaming direct competitors.
  • Connect with the Sports team daily to make sure the plans align with our networks’ strategy. Communication with the Sports team ensure negotiations to find best timeslots and network assignments to all linear games in the portfolio.
  • Closely monitor network performance by program, title, and daypart, across all demo groups, and implement programming changes based on data-driven insights to remain competitive in the media landscape.
  • Ability to clearly articulate throughout all company departments and upper management the strategy driving both acquisitions and scheduling while driving continuous improvement by working with stakeholders to identify bottlenecks and develop best practices.
  • Sensitivity to key executive stakeholders to properly and effectively communicate strategies driving programming decision and recommendations, as well as content deals and cost structure to Finance, Legal and Upper Management.
  • Work in partnership with various company departments such as Sales, Media Planning, Marketing, Promotions, among many others, to help grow audience, network, and program awareness along with continuing to support the anchor brand.
  • Strong understanding of multicultural trends relative to program preferences and lifestyle behaviors that drive media consumption, with emphasized focus on the Hispanic market.
  • Understand and work within the timetables of various departments to supply required information to implement scheduling and promotion initiatives.
  • Creative aptitude to advise and collaborate with the promotions and marketing departments to support program launches, specials, and ongoing regular scheduling.
  • Partner with program administration team to regularly track all content assets, ensure rights and runs are accurately maintained and adhered for internal systems.
  • Coordinate with Media planning, Research, and Ad Sales to ensure formats are effectively structured to reflect network’s needs, viewer behavior and ad load requirements.
  • Work with S&P to ensure compliance with MVPD and FCC obligations.
  • Work closely with Finance in the direction of the annual operating budget.
  • Work closely with Traffic and the Programming Operations teams to ensure alignment with network strategy, formats are in place and content deliveries are received on time. 
  • Ensure program guides are accurately maintained.
  • Prepare presentations and decks to share with Marketing, Promotions and Sales teams.
  • Lead and manage a team of 6 high-performing programming producers and programmers to achieve business objectives.
  • Lead the Content Acquisitions Sr. Manager in the weekend movie strategy for the network.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required and a minimum of 10+ years of strategic planning and experience in Programming.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
