Role profile:

Senior Network Engineering position to provide network analysis, coordination and technology solutions supporting ALL regions globally, with main focus either in the AMERS, EMEA or APAC, within the Collections Engineering and Technology group.

The engineering challenges this role addresses provide opportunities to work on ground-breaking technologies to migrate real-time market exchange systems to new technology stacks, to help simplify and improve flexibility in our global low-latency networks.

ROLE SUMMARY:

  • The Senior Network Engineering position is within a distributed team, which operates both in-office and remotely, project focused and BAU deliveries, opportunities to develop automation, pipelines and develop new technologies for our production environments.
  • Transformation technologies include pipelines for NextGen network, migration tools and automatic testing testbeds to improve quality of testing for network changes
  • Main focus on Cisco based environment, with transformation migrating some of our on-prem workload into public and hybrid clouds
  • Vendor engagement to solve issues and develop next generation platforms
  • In conjunction with the wider team, responsible for break/fix activities within development environments, numbering approx. 1,500 individual switches/routers globally
  • Expertise in resolving capacity and performance issues on complex network environments
  • Detailed knowledge/understanding of network stacks and tuning options
  • Senior Network Engineer provides Cisco-centric engineering, Virtualization and NextGen solutions supporting the Realtime Development environments
  • Senior Network Engineer has the ability to work autonomously, document and track progress via JIRA/Sharepoint, and close communication with wider team and customers via scrums
  • Accountable for Developing, Running, Maintaining network infrastructure tooling and automation testbeds for Realtime development and QE assets
  • Also responsible for Analysis, Definition, Design, Construction, Testing, Installation of changes within the environment in accordance with governance guidelines

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Works closely with planning and technology architect to assure all network equipment and architecture are in line with IT long term strategy.
  • Participates in project planning sessions with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyse requirements and provides design recommendations for sophisticated systems.
  • Build, Test designs and code for managing RT sophisticated container workload deployments, including upgrades, capacity management, monitoring
  • Conducts unit testing and implements multi-functional systems ensuring network equipment and environment fit needs of client and business.
  • Works with project teams to define and design scope for each project.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for buy versus build decisions.
  • Provides design recommendations, develops application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements
  • Responsible for writing sophisticated design specifications.
  • Collaborates in setting development guidelines.
  • Prepares and presents status updates for various projects.
  • Reviews effort to ensure compliance to application architecture standards.
  • Research new and emerging technologies.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for new tools, technologies and platforms to be implemented.
  • Provides technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to engineering & application development teams.
  • Requires full technical knowledge and thorough understanding of business application of the project.
  • Acts as team leader on projects but is likely to be an individual contributor at this level.
  • Acts as an industry class authority in a cross section technical subject area.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Essential skills…

  • Expertise with: Cisco IOS and NXOS, network virtualization (VSS/VPC), Network Security and Firewalls, VPNs, NATs, NextGen, and all related network tool appliances
  • Experience with network solve tools such as Wireshark, Ethereal, Sniffer Pro, etc.
  • Experience with Cisco-based tools such as TACACS, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco-based hardware platforms, or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding of static and dynamic network routing – vrf, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP, etc.
  • Able to work in an exciting, fast-paced environment with little daily supervision
  • Expected education/experience:
    • BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or
    • Equivalent work experience (Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Architecture in an enterprise environment)
