Manager, Product Software Quality Assurance

Delivering a successful robotaxi experience depends on the seamless integration of software, operations, services, and end-user interactions. Continuously testing this end-to-end system is a complex challenge—one that demands innovative engineering approaches and a broad range of skills and expertise.
As the Product Software Quality Assurance Manager, you will lead a high-performing team of Software Development Engineers in Test and Quality Assurance Engineers in designing and executing robust, continuous tests at a systems and applications level. Your role will require close cross-functional collaboration with developers, product managers, technical program managers, designers, and our project management office to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development process.
You'll help define success metrics and shape strategies for team growth and development. You will also bring hands-on technical proficiency, strong leadership, and a “shift-left” mindset—prioritizing quality from the earliest stages of the development lifecycle.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the technical strategy for quality and testing of Zoox’s Product Software Cloud services.
• Define a clear vision for the team, set measurable goals, and develop a roadmap with success metrics.
• Drive data-informed approaches to system testing by identifying gaps in current automation frameworks and proposing scalable, automated testing solutions.
• Manage and mentor a team of highly skilled Software Development Engineers in Test and Quality Assurance Engineers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software in a fast-paced, two-week sprint cycle.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners—including the broader Quality Assurance organization, Technical Program Managers, and our Program Management Office—to ensure alignment and support Zoox’s end-to-end product vision.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field, with 10+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or development, including 5+ years focused on cloud-based application stacks.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role, with a track record of managing teams, driving project execution, balancing resources, and fostering team growth.
• Strong proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience integrating diverse test frameworks into cohesive, scalable system testing solutions.
• Bring a strong quality assurance mindset and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Bonus Qualificatons:

• Experience in the autonomous vehicle (AV) industry or other safety-critical domains.
• Proficiency in Kotlin, with hands-on experience in developing and maintaining codebases.
• Strong background in designing and implementing mobile test automation frameworks and solutions.
