In October 2021, we launched our new ‘Food Club & Opportunity Hub’ to expand efficient, impactful healthy food assistance with the on-site integration of other pathway programs. More recently, we announced a partnership with Dwelling Place to help address the affordable housing crisis here in Holland. In July 2023, we publicly launched our expansion of Lakeshore Food Rescue (www.lakeshorefoodrescue.org).

SummaryAre you looking for a temporary position? Do you care about food accessibility and minimizing food waste? Join our team as a Temporary Food Club Associate! We are seeking a temporary associate to join our team as we hire for an on-going Food Club Associate. This temporary position comes with flexibility in terms of weekly hours & schedule - we're open to working with you! Food Club Associates are primarily responsible for leading volunteers, ensuring efficient and effective operations, maintaining clean and organized food areas, and providing excellent customer service during member shopping hours. English fluency and working proficiency of spoken Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties

  • Provide outstanding member service during Food Club shopping hours
  • Work collaboratively with a cross functional team to ensure highest member service
  • Ensure the work area is clean and organized for volunteer and staff use
  • Work alongside and lead daily volunteer groups and shifts 
  • Assist volunteers at the Point of Sale System and fill in as needed
  • Work to ensure efficient food delivery from trucks and other donations, and ensure food is properly stored in a timely and food safe manner
  • Stock shelves, rotate product and maintain inventory, FIFO and proper food handling 
  • Identify opportunities and take steps to improve the member and volunteer experiences
  • Weekly deep cleaning of work areas
  • Assist the Food Club Lead with unscheduled and unanticipated tasks as they arise
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received

  • Specific Direction: Receives detailed work instructions or guidance for performing repetitive tasks. Supervisor monitors progress and provides feedback or correction as needed to ensure that tasks are completed according to expectations.

Education & Experience

  • No prior experience required 
  • High School Diploma required; or in place of a degree, equivalent years of experience
  • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain)
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency preferred

Qualifications

  • Integrity, positive attitude, and self-directed, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement
  • Passion or experience working to promote healthy food access
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize member experience
  • Proficiency in Google Workplace, and ability to use an Inventory and POS system
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks without direct supervision
  • Working knowledge of food safety, FIFO procedures and safe food handling
  • Strong work ethic and attentio
