Raytheon is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer within our Operations Quality team to provide support associated with the production of cutting-edge electro-optic and infrared surveillance items within the McKinney CMC Factory.
Our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on product compliance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with team members, customers, and suppliers to solve difficult problems
- Use critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to resolve manufacturing defects/problems and improve efficiency
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve quality, increase efficiency and reduce cost
- Perform data preparation, analyses, and reporting
- Ensure manufacturing processes, test equipment and processes, and product builds comply with Quality and Engineering requirements
- Attend daily tier meetings to discuss and drive resolution on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity issues that hinder customer satisfaction
- Drive resolution of nonconforming material with cross-functional support team
- Conduct Layered Process Assessments in the factory
- Perform and support audits to ensure compliance with requirements
- Support root cause and corrective action activities
- Support Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis on processes and products to prevent product defects and mitigate risk
- Support implementation of product control plans
- Act on applicable material, product, and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process
- Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with electronics manufacturing and assembly
- Experience with metrology, measurement resources and practices
- Experience with product acceptance and/or corrective action response
- Proficiency with creating presentations and technical reports, using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Qualifications We Prefer
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with team members, customers, and suppliers
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and apply decision-making skills with limited supervisory intervention
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
- Thorough organizational, collaborative, and communication skills
- Knowledge with the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) (AS9145)
- Practical experience with CORE/Six Sigma methodologies (e.g. Kaizen, Lean, Define/Measure/Analyze/Improve/Control, and Define/Measure/Analyze/Design/Verify) and resources (e.g. Analysis of Variance, Statistical Process Control, Capability Analysis, Design of Experiments, and Measurement Systems Analysis)
- Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment
- Experience with AS9100 Quality Management systems
- Experience with Project Management or Risk and Opportunity Management
