Job Description
Warming Station Attendants are considered essential workers, which means attendants are expected to report to stations during weekdays, weekends, holidays, and weather emergencies. Attendants are responsible for overseeing operations at any of the five Gwinnett County Warming Stations during overnight shifts from 5:30 pm - 7:00 am, which includes a 1-hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks. The incumbent is empathetic and respectful while supporting residents, enforcing station rules, and adhering to all rules and regulations of the Warming Station operations. Additionally, the attendants will be responsible for ensuring participant safety, monitoring behaviors, and reporting any incidents or emergencies in accordance with protocols.

- Community Resource Center at Bethany Church Road — 3025 Bethany Church Road, Snellville, GA 30039
- Lawrenceville Senior Center — 225 Benson Street, Lawrenceville, GA 30046
- Shorty Howell Park Activity Building — 2750 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, GA 30096
Essential Duties
- Completing and verifying resident intake forms for every guest served
- Completing setup, cleanup, and general organization of the site, including cots, cot covers, blankets, and supply staging
- Performing scheduled building walk-through and sanitation rotations of sleeping quarters, meal areas, and restrooms
- Maintaining accurate attendance logs and complete resident intake documentation
- Recording overnight guest counts by category and submit the Daily Shift Report by 6:00am
- Tracking supply levels each shift and notifying the shift supervisor immediately when items are low or out
- Recording and submitting timely, accurate reports to supervisors regarding time, attendance, inventory, incidents, and other critical information
- Supporting residents with empathy and respect while consistently enforcing station rules and Warming Station regulations
- Attending all required trainings and follow County policies and Warming Station protocols
- Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors and adapting quickly to schedule changes caused by weather-related emergencies
- Providing transportation to residents using county vehicle as directed by leadership, in accordance with County policies and defensive driving requirements.
- Facilitating clear and respectful verbal communication with guests to provide support and enforce station rules
- Engaging in effective interpersonal communication with team members and supervisors to ensure coordinated operations and information sharing in a timely manner
- Delivering shift handover briefings to incoming staff and supervisors covering guest status, incidents, and supply needs
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays
- Must have reliable transportation
$18.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid driver's license
- Associate degree in social services or social work AND
- One year of experience working with vulnerable populations and underserved communities
