Excel Engineering, Inc. is a fast-growing Engineering Consulting services firm. Since 1990, we provide specialty electrical and automation engineering solutions to achieve our client’s business objectives. This is a fast-paced environment with a variety of responsibilities that are always evolving and changing. Flexibility and Accountability is a must for this position. 

We are seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated, and experienced HR Generalist position for our Mounds View, Minnesota office. Limited remote work may be available for this position.


The ideal candidate is a "Go-Getter" who supports all aspects of the Human Resource (HR) department including processing payroll and benefits. Duties include pay and benefits analysis in addition to the following:  


Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. 
  • Benchmark benefits and pay to remain competitive in employee retention and talent acquisition. 
  • Lead and manage benefits renewal process. 
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale. 
  • Project work that may include developing company career pathing, development, and training. 
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. 
  • Assist in the recruiting and hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. 
  • Process payroll semi-monthly using Paylocity. 
  • Verify hours worked, paid time off, deductions, labor code changes and pay adjustments. 
  • Set up and maintain PTO accrual and employee data records, including benefit deductions. 
  • Verify that benefit deductions tie out to benefits billing. 
  • Assist with new employee onboarding. 
  • Stay up to date with changes in payroll regulations and laws to ensure compliance. 
  • Manage and provide work direction for our HR Administrator. 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Update job descriptions and the Employee Handbook as needed. 
  • Participate in EEO compliance. 
  • Aid in the general recruiting strategy for all business units. 
  • Develop key personnel succession plan and aid in the plan execution. 
  • May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations. 
  • May lead and participate in training for managers and supervisors. 
  • Employee surveys on employee engagement and satisfaction. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Other responsibilities identified as needed by the employee and approved and/or assigned by the Manager. 

Requirements

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

Qualifications: 

  • Prefer 5+ years of human resource management, payroll and benefits experience. 
  • Experience with strategy and leading HR projects such as benchmarking and career pathing a plus. 
  • SHRM-CP a plus. 
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Effective task management, dedication to high quality service, and thorough attention to details. 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. 
  • Enthusiasm for working with many internal clients at various levels in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and highly sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and experience in working as part of a team. 
  • Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
