Job Summary/Description:  

We're seeking a Bilingual Assistant News Director to join our vibrant Telemundo Atlanta/TBO news team! In this role, you'll partner with the News Director to orchestrate the daily news gathering efforts of our team. You'll be instrumental in shaping our coverage across diverse platforms, ensuring every story resonates.

Your expertise will touch every facet of our media presence, from on-air broadcasts to engaging web content, cutting-edge digital initiatives, and impactful social media campaigns across multiple Hispanic markets.

Duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

- The Assistant News Director oversees the daily news gathering efforts of the news team for different Hispanic markets, guiding coverage across multiple platforms and ensuring that the end product delivers on key brand strategies.
- Work will be performed for all media platforms for WKTB and TBO (Gray's Spanish News Bureau), including: on-air, web, digital, and social media.
- Fill in the newscast producer when team members are out on PTO.
- In conjunction with the News Director, the Assistant News Director develops and implements long-term and short-term news strategies for product evolution and growth.
- The Assistant News Director coaches team members at various stages of development.
- This person also manages schedules for special coverage.
- Manages and advises on compelling, impact-driven news and weather coverage.
- Understands storytelling and how to develop unique, enterprise content across platforms.
- Helps research, gather, and fact-check news stories for on-air and online while providing guidance for improvement.
- Stays informed about local, national, and international events as they may impact our community or add value to our viewers' lives.
- Works on award submissions and maintains a video newsroom log of top stories.
- Develops a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including demographics, key locations, and historical context.
- Offers daily feedback and sets up training sessions.
- Reviews and copyedits scripts.
- Maintaining professional and ethical conduct both inside the station and in the community.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in television news management.
- The bilingual speaker/writer must be highly proficient in both Spanish and English.
- Demonstrate solid writing skills in native Spanish with grammar, accuracy, and an unbiased manner for digital platforms.
- Experience using ENPS and Edius preferred.
- BS/BA in Journalism or communications preferred.
- Ability to write and edit stories.
- Must be capable of working under pressure and meeting daily deadlines in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Familiar with the OTT procedures and operations.
- Scheduling flexibility is required.
- Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to multitask and manage
