Summary:
The Spare Parts - Tooling Coordinator position is responsible for ordering tooling using the electronic requisition system. Responsible for entering blanket purchase orders for tooling, PPE, and janitorial supplies in SAP. Incumbent works with purchasing and controlling to maintain/manage purchase orders. The incumbent assists in establishing and maintaining procedures for the use and replacement of production tooling. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the tooling. Incumbent works with Engineering to determine whether tooling should be discarded or replaced tooling. The incumbent in collaboration with Engineering will decide to have salvageable tooling repaired by either the Tool & Gauge Department or outside vendors. The incumbent orders new tooling when damaged tooling cannot be repaired. There are responsible for maintaining adequate inventories of tools. This position in coordination with Engineering will maintain records on all tooling repair work and initiates any necessary updates for machine and tooling blueprints. The incumbent assists in establishing and maintaining procedures for the use and replacement of production tooling. Performs regular tool inspections to ensure that the tools are being sharpened and used in accordance with specifications.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Initiates requisitions to purchase new or replacement tooling using the Electronic Requisition System.
- Enter new tooling information into the tooling access database.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory levels of items stored in the tool crib.
- Assist with 5-S organization within the tool crib.
- Help prepare new or improved methods for inspecting tooling. Incumbent will work with Engineering.
- Work to improve the link between customer forecasts and tooling availability.
- Assist with the set- up of SAP Tooling Module.
- Troubleshoot tooling problems with Engineering.
- Responsible for all procedures and forms as described in the St. Johns Tool Quality Assurance Manual. Maintains tooling inspection documents and forms in QSI.
- Maintain issuances, inventory and data pertaining to spare parts storage.
- Set up new parts and assist Engineering and Skilled Trades with updating existing parts.
- Work with buyers, catalog companies and vendors to develop best cost-effective solutions.
- Database upkeep.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- College classes dealing with machine shop practices and equipment may be helpful or necessary depending on other qualifications. On the job training is also required. Safety training will be provided as necessary.
- Ability to read blueprints and diagrams Technical knowledge of tooling used in the plant.
- Experience using AutoCAD or other software.
- Exhibit good organizational skills, record keeping and ability to multi-task.
- Good communications skills both verbal and written, as well as proficiency with email communications
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Experience with Access, Microsoft programs (Excel, Word), SAP applications.
