Department Overview

As a key member of the Data Protection - Products Team, the Data Protection - Product Privacy Specialist (“Privacy Specialist”) will collaborate with personnel across Motorola Solutions, Inc.(MSI) business lines and in particular product and engineering groups, legal, cyber security, marketing and support organizations to assist in ensuring that MSI’s products and services comply with applicable standards, laws and regulations for the purpose of (i) building trust in MSI products and services and (ii) documenting and demonstrating that compliance to customer, regulators and other stakeholders. The role requires working successfully in a complex, multi-product/service ecosystems, at multiple levels, with a wide variety of constituents requiring a strong compliance and business background. 


Job Description

Responsibilities:

The Data Protection Product Compliance Specialist reports to the Sr. Privacy Counsel.  As a compliance subject matter expert, the Privacy Specialist is responsible for the following:

  • Work with Privacy Counsel to advise product teams on preparation of asset lists, data inventories, data flow mapping, privacy questionnaires and records of processing utilizing OneTrust privacy management platform.
  • Track metrics associated with privacy assessments and data flow mapping
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of MSI privacy and data protection posture by assisting the design and development of processes to mitigate data privacy risks
  • Stay current on the impact of established and emerging laws, regulations and standards on MSI’s customers, products, services, and technology infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with internal privacy attorneys on privacy assessments of products and services
  • Responsible for memorializing privacy team processes into formal procedure documents
  • Manage subprocessor tracking activity and associated list publication on website
  • Coordinate and track privacy assessment activity for company products and services. 
  • Develop, deploy and track metrics for measuring data protection compliance activities and creation of effective materials for communication of those metrics to various internal stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • ​Highly skilled in working within and administering the OneTrust privacy management platform at an enterprise level is a MUST
  • Adept at learning new tools, particularly  customizing privacy solutions 
  • Superior writing skills 
  • Legal support background a plus
  • Experience of working in a large, global technology company preferred
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines
  • Detail-oriented approach needed to recommend and implement strategic improvements on a range of data privacy and data protection issues.
  • General understanding of cloud industry technologies IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate and drive initiative at multiple levels.
  • Proven ability to quickly gain trust, negotiate business objectives, have constructive debate, and work directly with a broad group of personnel

Note: Candidate may reside anywhere in the US, but preferred candidate will be in the Central Standard or Eastern Standard time zone.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in privacy compliance
  • OR Associate's degree and 5+ years of experience in privacy compliance
  • Must hold at least one privacy certification such as CIPP, CIPM or CIPT 
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
