The Opportunity

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Function in a technical specialist capacity.  Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. 
  • Broaden knowledge and skill set in area of discipline.  May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas. 
  • Develop Electrical design for Data Center projects. 
  • Develop a variety of complex engineering deliverables including one-line diagrams, schematics, power and lighting plans, electrical installation details, and technical specifications. 
  • Act as an Owner’s Rep and support various engineering activities including design reviews, creation & review of MOP/EOP’s, support of site operations, etc. 
  • Prepare technical documents such as reports or design calculations. 
  • Perform site condition assessments. 
  • Coordinate with regional and global design teams 
  • Continuous learning and development of technical expertise/specialty area  
  • Do project studies – Power System Coordination and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, and Electrical Reliability Analysis. 
  • Construction inspection and resolution of electrical construction issues 
  • Occasional travel for site visits (up to 10% travel) 

This role will support projects primarily for North America.  Black & Veatch prides itself on the support of our employees and providing flexibility to make the things that are most important to you, a priority.  This is why we offer our professionals, located near an office a hybrid work environment. Our hybrid work approach allows our employees to work from other locations outside of the office and be in the office the required number of days per week.  The required number of days in the office varies by office location and is no more than 3 days per week. 

Preference for professionals located in Overland Park, KS, St. Louis, MO., Atlanta, GA, Canonsburg, PA, Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Cary, NC or Cincinnati, OH.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with desire to develop into project lead for Data Center projects. 

  • Revit / AutoCAD experience. 

  • National Electric Code experience (as it relates to Building Design). 

  • ETAP / SKM experience.
