About this role:

Gartner Researchers support the discovery of actionable business ideas while bringing best practices, and research models to life across a broad range of world-leading clients. A Senior Principal’s job is two-fold: they’re responsible for investigating, analyzing, and writing about critical issues facing senior-level executives using qualitative and quantitative research, and they also play a key role in supporting the entire lifecycle of a research project’s evolution. A Senior Principal helps lead the discovery of innovative ideas and insights and coaches/mentors junior researchers in the development of their research practice.

This Senior Principal works within the CIO and Industries research practice, which seeks to address the needs of chief information officers and senior tech leaders at global enterprises.

 What you will do:

·         Lead research team through Gartner's proprietary research process including hypothesis generation, primary and secondary research, and root cause analysis to identify best-in-class solutions.

·         Drive key findings from complex datasets and use findings to develop analytically sound, logically ordered research pieces.

·         Independently create and manage such key research deliverables, including large research studies, white papers, case studies, presentations and webinars, guidebooks, templates, round-table discussions, or custom, in-bound research requests.

·         Conduct interviews with senior executives, academics and industry experts in search of innovative ideas.

·         Develop insights that are practical and actionable (not academic) to be grounded in clients’ workflows.

·         Be a key member of the Research team, by contributing and owning entire project life-cycles - from conception to completion and improving the quality of intellectual debates.

·         Present research findings and closely collaborate with senior management and stakeholders, defend key ideas, and advance insights iteratively based on feedback.

·         Mentor, develop, and motivate one or more researchers across the entire project life-cycle.

What you will need:

·         A Bachelor's degree required, and a Master’s/PhD in a social science preferred

·         7+ years of experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data. Primary research experience preferred.  

·         Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity in order to process and understand information quickly, as well as diagnose issues to make actionable recommendations.

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills, with particular attention to precision of language and ability to organize information logically.

·         Experience and comfort with analyzing, synthesizing, and distilling large amounts of quantitative and qualitative information.

·         Experience converting qualitative and quantitative information into clear frameworks, narratives and visually compelling presentations for senior Gartner managers and clients.

·         Project management experience with the ability to lead, develop and mentor members on the Research team.

·         Strong organizational skills, ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality material.

·         Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team.
