EJ has an immediate opening for a Product Engineer (Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 p.m.)

 

Salary - $70,000 to $80,000 a year

SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and implements fabrication product design and quality program for EJ Fabrication sourcing operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company. This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates customers’ new product requests for all new custom products; establishes the standards and prepares the drawings (Solidworks) and furnishes quotes for jobs.
  • Takes direction and guidance from Engineer Manager.
  • Works with customers and sales in providing fabrication product design and technical support, i.e. product design and fabrication consultation and service.
  • Works with manufacturing on the effective implementation of new products within the shop, i.e. shop processes, routings, bill of materials, standards, NCR set-up, new tooling and fixturing.
  • Conducts product feasibility studies and evaluations, assists sales and manufacturing in determining the costs and profitability of taking on new sales or products.
  • Develops and helps to implement new product design concepts.
  • Assists the steel and aluminum product line by providing engineering support and communication with Sales and Fabrication.
  • Establishes and manages effective product quality inspection, audit and review processes from sales/quote entry through manufacturing.
  • Trains and coaches all other employees on effective use of continuous improvement and quality systems tools and methods.
  • Assists in customer complaint investigations, reporting and follow-ups. Leads the effort to improve product quality as seen by the customer.
  • Leads specific quality improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment.  Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization.
  • Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Some knowledge of structural design, drafting, and Excel is required. Normally, this experience is attained through obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering although a 2 Year degree with both structure and drafting is acceptable. Solidworks proficiency is a must, five (5) years of experience in a fabrication environment is preferred.

 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Proficient and experienced in drafting design and shop drawings using Solidworks.<
